Comparison · November 2026
Checked on 2 November 2026 by Sonisto, which makes one of the apps on this page. Every fact about another app comes from its developer’s own website, linked below, and every price is as that site listed it that day.
Plugin Station runs on Mac only, and its developer says a Windows version depends on hiring someone to write it. If you work on Windows or on both, the plugin managers that run on both are Sonisto, PluginHub, ProducerGrid, KVR Studio Manager, Plugoff and OwlPlug. On a Mac, the usual reason to look elsewhere is cost: Plugin Station starts at $4.99 a month or $149.99 once, for one computer.
| App | Mac | Windows | Price, as listed | Stands out for |

Plugin Station is out for now. Start with what you want to happen when a plugin is out of date: PluginHub downloads and installs updates inside the app for nearly 60 vendors, Sonisto and KVR Studio Manager tell you and leave the install to you.
PluginHub is $39.99 once for two machines, which can be one Mac and one PC on the same licence. Plugin Station’s one-time price starts at $149.99 for one computer and rises to $349.99 for three.
Sonisto, ProducerGrid and OwlPlug have free versions with no end date, KVR Studio Manager is donationware, and Plugoff is free for now. Plugin Station has a 7-day free trial.
Stay with Plugin Station. Sharing a System Profile before a session, and restoring from one on a new computer, is what it is built around. KVR Studio Manager and PluginHub can also compare setups; Sonisto’s comparison is between your own computers, on Basic and Pro.
Its developer spent almost five years in plugin technical support, and it shows. It warns about an out-of-date iLok License Manager, suggests fixes for a plugin that misbehaves and can draft the support message for you. Its UAD Assistant deals with the UAD DSP plugins you hold no licence for, and Storage Manager shows what your plugins take up on disk. If those are the reasons you use it and you only work on a Mac, none of the apps here replaces all of it.
Sonisto’s free plan covers one computer, one scan a month and update notifications for 10 plugins. Basic adds a second computer, 20 scans a month, update notifications for every plugin, a vault for serial keys, comparing computers and exporting your library. Pro raises that to 10 computers and unlimited scans. A yearly Pro subscription comes with 12 plugins to keep on the day you join.
Sonisto tells you an update exists and links to the installer; it does not install updates for you, apart from freeware and a few selected brands. It has no tags and no way to switch a plugin off, and it can only uninstall plugins it manages itself.
No. Its own FAQ says it does not support Windows, that the developer wrote the code alone and would like to hire someone for a Windows version someday, and it offers an email sign-up for news of one.
PluginHub if you use Windows at all, or want to install updates from inside the app and pay once at a lower price. Plugin Station if you are on Mac only and want System Profiles, storage views and its troubleshooting help.
You do not need to export anything for your plugin list. These apps build it by scanning your computer, so you install one and scan. Licence keys are the exception: copy them across yourself.
Subscriptions run from $4.99 a month or $54.89 a year for one computer to $10.99 a month or $120.89 a year for three. One-time licences are $149.99, $249.99 and $349.99 for one, two and three computers. It can only be bought inside the app.
